Rita Payés Roma has been surrounded by music since her earliest days, shaping her into the gifted trombonist and vocalist she is today. Known for captivating audiences from a young age with her charisma and dynamic stage presence, she seamlessly weaves jazz and bossa nova influences into her own compositions and covers. Singing in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, she creates a unique, atmospheric experience in each performance.
Hailing from the outskirts of Barcelona and raised in a deeply musical family, Rita's talent was nurtured by her father, a professional trumpet player, and her mother, Elisabeth Roma, a guitarist. Together, she and her mother have released multiple albums and continue to perform as a duo. Rita’s music resonates far and wide, with her singles, albums, and live performances reaching over 100 million streams on Spotify. At just 16, she made her debut with *Jazz to Jazz* (2015) in collaboration with renowned jazz musician Joan Chamorro, marking the start of her promising career.
Rita’s journey has also been shaped by collaborations with celebrated artists and ensembles, including Jimmy Cobb, Scott Robinson, the WDR Big Band, and the Clasijazz Big Band. Her breakthrough came with the 2022 album *Como la Piel*, which won the award for "Best Jazz Album" that year. Now at 25, she has just released her fifth album, *De Camino al Camino*, alongside several singles and live sessions, including a memorable Tiny Desk concert.
