Rita Payés Roma has lived and breathed music since her childhood. An exceptional trombonist and singer, she has captivated audiences from a young age with her magnetic stage presence. Whether performing in English, Spanish, or Portuguese, Rita masterfully blends jazz and bossa nova with her unique style, creating an unforgettable atmosphere at her concerts. At just 16 years old, she released her debut album Jazz to Jazz (2015) alongside renowned jazz musician Joan Chamorro, which marked the beginning of her international success and showcased her extraordinary talent.
Growing up in a musical family in Barcelona, Rita received a comprehensive musical education from an early age. From 2014 to 2018, she was a member of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, contributing to all of the band’s albums during that time. Her versatility as both an instrumentalist and vocalist has led to collaborations with major artists and big bands, such as the WDR Big Band and the Clasijazz Big Band. She has also worked with artists like C. Tangana, Silvana Estrada, and MARO, continually expanding her creative horizons.
In 2019, she released the project Imagina with her mother, guitarist Elisabeth Roma, followed by Como la piel (2021). These albums, which feature both covers and original compositions, received widespread acclaim. The song Algo contigo has surpassed 52 million streams on Spotify. With her latest album De Camino al Camino (2024), Rita presents her first collection of entirely original works, showcasing her musical journey and artistic growth in a profound and captivating way.
