Roger Corrêa is one of the most promising artists in the world of diatonic accordion jazz. A brilliant composer and virtuoso musician, he shows to the world a little-explored facet of Brazilian music: its most authentic Southern expression, which comprehensively encompasses all aspects of South American music, in tune with classical music and contemporary jazz.
Born in Guaíba, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1998, he began his home studies at age 6 with his brother and refined his skills in Fábrica de Gaiteiros project, created by the legend Renato Borghetti. His musical career began at age 13 when he joined several regional “gaucho” music groups. Before that, he accompanied his father, also a musician, to festivities and events around the southern region.
Until he was 16, his musical schooling was the folk music of southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. After discovering the language of Choro, he began frequenting the jams in the capital, Porto Alegre, and listening to artists such as Tom Jobim, Jacob do Bandolim, Pixinguinha, and others, eventually moving to Florianópolis, Santa Catarina.
Throughout his career, he has played alongside artists such as Yamandu Costa, Renato Borghetti, Luis Salinas, Paquito D'Rivera, and Javier Colina, performing for audiences in Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and Guatemala, as well as over 50 concerts as a guest soloist with the Orquestra Camerata Florianópolis.
He recorded his first album, Sul em Aquarela (Sul in Aquarela), at the age of 25 and released in 2024 his second album Latino Ibérico. In 2025, he was the only Brazilian invited by Jazzahead, the largest international jazz fair, to perform for an audience of jazz programmers, promoters and journalists in Germany.
