Consisting of Oscar de Jong, Wim Plug and Mark Kneppers, Kraak & Smaak’s impressive studio and performance career have seen the trio consistently create refreshing records and outstanding DJ and live moments during global touring across the globe.
Establishing themselves with a distinctively warm and uplifting, eclectic sound across genres as nu disco, deep house, funk, electronic and indie dance, the trio is currently finishing up its 7th studio album Velvet Seas (2025), again boasting a host of featured vocalists, which in the past led to outstanding artist collabs with for example Parcels, Ben Westbeech, Romanthony, Lee Fields, Mayer Hawthorne, Gavin Turek,The Palmsand Durand Jones.
Originally starting out at UK’s funk and breakbeat outlet Jalapeno Records, until the mid 10’s, they have released their material on their own label Boogie Angst since, plus one-offs on various imprints such as Exploited, Spinnin’ Records, Toolroom, Future Disco and Too Slow To Disco. Moreover, over the years they released various DJ mix compilations and numerous club-vibed remixes for Jamiroquay, Solomun, Moby, Aretha Franklin, Detroit Swindle, Chromatics, Yuksek, the Funk Hunters, Tensnake, Royksopp and many more.
Performance-wise, K&S have graced many a stage across the world, with festival highlights such as Glastonbury, Detroit Movement, Sziget, Exit, Coachella and Bonnaroo, as well as touring clubs across Europe, the UK, the USA, Australia, China and Mexico. During a five-week live tour across the USA, Kraak & Smaak performs at Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show on ABC television.
With Kraak & Smaak’s DJ sets one can expect a mix of deep house, nu disco and everything in between, sometimes lighter in tone, sometimes more clubby-depending on the specific setting - but always cool, diverse, accessible. The Sound System adds either one of the permanent live band vocalists IVAR or Berenice van Leer to the mix, giving the gents a trump card by being able to showcase live renditions of their original material within their DJ sets as well.
