Grammy Award-winner Eliane Elias is, without a doubt, a world-class pianist, although she is perhaps best known as a jazz singer (her albums Dreamer and Bossa Nova Stories have sold over 500,000 copies).
As a talented young pianist, she even played alongside Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes! She subsequently made a name for herself in the world of jazz, both in the USA and internationally. First with "Steps Ahead" and then as a solo artist. Eliane Elias has toured the world on numerous occasions and, in the last two years alone, has given many outstanding festival performances – including at North Sea Jazz, Jazzfest Wien, the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Umbria Jazz, Jazz a Marciac, Jazz a Vienne, Stockholm Jazz and the Skopje Jazz Festival. Her concert has been voted one of the festival’s best on several occasions and has often been among the best-selling; audiences and organisers alike were absolutely thrilled. Her quartet is fantastic: with Marc Johnson, she has one of the world’s finest bassists (whose album Swept Away was released on ECM), whilst Raphael Barata (dr) and Graham Dechter (g) are exceptional talents. On special occasions, special guests such as Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano or Till Brönner also join the line-up. Her album I Thought About You, a tribute to Chet Baker, received outstanding reviews.
