Ibrahim Maalouf

Ibrahim Maalouf is a real star in France – 2014 he won the French music prize “Victoires de la musique” for the third time! Furthermore Maalouf has been awarded with the greatest artistic award the “Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” in 2015.

In 2016 he was touring throughout many big arenas & halls in France. His new two albums released by Impulse!/Universal called “Kalthoum” and “Red & Black light” reached even the Top 10 Amazon french jazz charts! But also internationally he has become a very popular act and already played at many of the European top festivals (London Jazz Festival, North Sea, Gent, Basel, Victoria Gasteig, Paleo, Jazz a Vienne, Cully, Elbjazz, Skopje, Palatia Jazz, Molde, Marciac, Colours of Ostrava, and many more.)

Ibrahim Maalouf is the only trumpet player who plays music with a special quarter-tone trumpet. His style combines Arabic and jazz elements and sometimes, as heared on “Red & Black light”, even pop and rock. Maalouf developed to one of the most interesting trumpeters in the international circuit. His style is fresh and his music innovative, but still faithfull in regard to his roots. With his two new projects the most interesting trumpeter of the last years is coming back!
