Kinga Głyk is undoubtedly one of the most exciting bassists of her generation. Her mix of jazz, funk and blues not only fascinates fans worldwide, but also attracts critical acclaim. With virtuoso playing, a unique groove and a charismatic stage presence, she has established herself as a permanent fixture on the international jazz scene. While her viral bass solo to Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven gave her a huge reach, Kinga is much more than a social media phenomenon. As a thoroughbred musician, she creates a world of sound with an inimitable blend of passion and precision that is both powerful and nuanced in equal measure - and that never ceases to fascinate listeners.
Growing up in a musical family in Poland, she performed on stage with her father as a child and discovered her love of the electric bass at an early age. At the age of just 18, she released her debut album ‘Rejestracja’ (2015) and attracted international attention. Her breakthrough came with ‘Feelings’ (2017), on which she combined complex rhythms with melodic depth. Her flair for dynamics and her unique style led to collaborations with greats such as Gregory Hutchinson, Tim Garland and Simon Phillips.
Kinga Głyk's latest album ‘Real Life’ (2024) presents her most personal and mature musical vision to date. With a powerful groove, virtuoso bass lines and a profound emotionality, she creates a modern sound that combines jazz, funk and fusion in an innovative way. Together with renowned musicians, she unfolds a sound spectrum that ranges from rousing rhythms to soulful ballads. On every stage, whether in intimate clubs or on large festival stages, she delights audiences with her technical brilliance, joy of playing and unmistakable musical signature. Her performance at the Leverkusener Jazztage 2023 was another highlight that emphasised her versatility. Her collaboration with the hr-Bigband was particularly impressive and broadened her artistic horizons even further.
