António Zambujo

Vocal Fado
António Zambujo

António Zambujo is a singer of remarkable sophistication, seamlessly blending tradition and innovation. He carries the legacy of Amália Rodrigues’ music, as well as the influences of jazz icons like Chet Baker and João Gilberto. With his velvety voice, accompanied by clarinet, trumpet, Portuguese guitar, double bass, and classical guitar, Zambujo captivates listeners with his sensual music, exuding unmatched charm and elegance.

After years of success in Portugal, with sold-out concerts—particularly his duo performances with Miguel Araujo—Zambujo has built a growing international fanbase, especially in France and other European countries. With his latest album, Oração ao Tempo (2026), António Zambujo continues his distinctive blend of fado, Brazilian music, and contemporary songwriting. It is a personal exploration of the passage of time, growing older, and the question of how we use our time.

Oração ao Tempo showcases Zambujo at the height of his artistry, with his characteristically understated voice, delicate arrangements, and that natural ease. The album reflects both his Portuguese roots and the influence of global musical traditions, while simultaneously creating a modern and contemporary soundscape. It is a work that showcases Zambujo’s broad musical horizons and underscores his status as one of the most significant artists on today’s scene.

„Antonio Zambujo singt den Fado, spielt Gitarre und vermischt ihn auf diesem Album mit einer raffinierten Prise Jazz um einen faszinierenden und verführerischen Mix aus Herz, Seele und Verstand zu erschaffen."
Jazz Weekly
"Mr. Zambujo is not a cafe belter like some younger fado singers. His tone is always intimate as he sings about solitude and lost love. The microphone is his ally."
The New York Times, 05.13.2012
